If you go south to Ho'okena Beach you can snorkel and they have a nice outdoor shower next to the beach and as well a nice main bathroom with hot water showers on the location. You can camp at night for as little as $5 a person...It is it is fairly quiet and sometimes just 5 or six families there. The ocean water is nice and often you can swim out and swim with the dolphins...

The directions are "Go south on Highway 11 passing mile marker 101. At the Ho'okena Beach sign make a right. At the bottom of the road, turn left for parking" -- and that area is where the picnic tables are and people camp there. The park volunteers come by around dusk to see if you are signed up to stay overnight and then they collect your fees if you have not already paid.
The overnight camping sites are staggered where every other has a barbecue pit, and some have picnic tables and some do not, some are in shade some are not -- so there would be some advantage to getting there early to pick a spot with what you want.
There is a trail that goes up to the above caves behind the campsites which is neat to go to although it is a bit steep -- but when you get up there it is a very nice view.
