Below I will discuss how to get SATELLITE, but the process is very similar to switch to your DVD/VCR box.
TV, some people get confused trying to use the tuner for the TV it just uses its auxiliary or input or video setting (each TV calls it a different name but there should be a button on the t.v, remote that switches it from its tuner to the inputs that the satellite plugs into). All the channels selections are made thru the satellite box itself.
A. TV power on, it should be turned to INPUT/AUX/VIDEO which if it got off that setting is selected with the TV remote. Once the TV is looking for that it should be fine you would just control the volume with its remote after that.
Remember if you are trying to communicate to the TV with the TV remote it may not be in TV mode -- if you press the on/off button and the TV does not respond the TV remote needs to be placed back into TV mode (press the TV key first) before trying to send a command.
B. There is a small switchbox we put in between the TV and the inputs, they are marked I think button one is SAT so it should be pushed down for the SAT position. That box is so that we can run the VCR/DVD box and SAT and there are connections for people to plug in their camcorders if they like on that box and switch to it without needing to pull and mess with wires.
C. Then the Satellite (DISH) remote turn power on, it should be turned to SAT.
Many remotes these days are multifunction.
If you are not getting responses from your remote for the device — for the DISH remote press the SAT button to get it back into its SAT mode.
For the TV remote press the TV button to get it back into its TV mode.
The VCR/DVD same could be — it will switch between its VCR and DVD sides with a choice button.
I believe the DISH remote should be programmed to (in SAT mode) turn on and off the satellite box and change the channel of the satellite box. And (in TV mode) turn on and off the t.v. & change the volume of the t.v.

Not to confuse matters but the switchboxes have spare inputs for your camcorder, just follow these instructions and at the switchbox part choose an empty button (not TV or SAT) and plug your camcorder wires into the button choice you used.
