The only close airport is the KOA (Kona International Airport) which is about 8 miles from the house.
FYI typically you would pick up a rental car right next to the airport by taking a shuttle.
ITO is in Hilo, the other side of the Island. We have actually had people fly in and not realize they were a three hour drive to Kona side where our house is. Then others did it for a reason, like they got a deal and did not mind the drive.
